Hi everyone
I been working on a N64 for a few weeks now and this is my second time that I try to build one so I hope I can finish it this time :D here's what I have so far.
im using some parts from a RDP that i have and it doesn't work anymore only the screen works, also im using the buttons for L and R on my case
here's the board already trimmed and working

Here's again bent
IMG_0555.JPG
Instead of using cartridges I decided to use an everdrive that I have just to make the case smaller.
so after I solder all the wires i tested to see if it works and it did
IMG_0560.JPG
Here's the controller trimmed too
IMG_0553.JPG

For my case I used CAD to design it,this is my first time using CAD and i think it came out pretty good
here`s the front case
front case.jpg
as you see here it looks like the case from the RPD...but this one looks better :)

Back case
back case.jpg
on this one I've put some of the air vents from the Nintendo 64 console that are in the bottom part of the Nintendo 64 not just to honor that beautiful console But also so that it doesn't overheat :D also the Nintendo Logo
on top i have more air vents, the Z button, the SD card slot also where the on and off switch is going to be,the audio jack too,and the volume.
I will be printing the case in the next few days and I hope everything goes well.

nice work with the card slot, too.

I like your case design. Its cute, and bubbly. If you print the front like that, you are probably going to want to do it face down, in which case that extrusion for the analog stick may give you trouble. Because your printer is going to have to print a bed of support material before it starts if you do it like that. A better option may be to print the extrusion as a separate piece and glue it on afterwards.

here's an update of my case

I finally finished printing my case,I had some problems with my printer before I started printing but now it's working fine
so I printed the extrusion as a separate piece just like you told me shank thank you, also the back of the case I did it in 3 separate pieces too,so after I glued all the pieces I used tamiya putty and acetone to diluted it
I applied 3 layers and sanded between each layer,
being the first time using tamiya putty I have to say it works pretty good
Here's a picture after putting prime

I still have to work a little more on this so I will be posting more pictures later

Hey Pacal - love the case design! It's not too flashy but has just enough character that I would be excited to play a store-bought portable built like this.

I forgot to mention that I'm using a rumble pack and a 1mb memory combined as you can see in the picture is already soldered to the controller.
Ok that's it for now I hope everything goes well to finish my N64 portable this week.

A little update

So I started to put everything inside the case I wired almost everything and it seems to work fine but there's a little problem,it doesn't close I tried many ways but I just can't close it.
it seems that I'm gonna have to print the front case again because that's the one that it needs to be bigger

I finally got some free time to work on this again so here’s an update.

I had to make the case a little bigger since everything didn’t fit the first time, also I’m using a 3ds joystick instead of the previous joystick which it was from the wii controller,i was Planning to use the buttons from the 3ds for the C buttons on the 64 but i decided to print my own C buttons, also I removed the two holes in front of the case which those were gonna be use to switch from the memory pack to the rumble pack but now I’m only using a 1mb memory pack which I’m going to solder directly to the controller,so here are some pictures.
Here’s the case again after been printed,as you can see here I kept the case almost the same and now the I have a miNI64 board from Downing I can finally used the 3ds joystick

I forgot to mention that I also printed the Z button

I made this too to hold in place the everdrive but also I can use it to put the controller, the audio amp and some other things too

F9908310-0D2E-4FC3-9CA6-1F85DA4ED863.jpeg

I also made this for my buttons,I have to put those two screws on the A and B to reach the tactical buttons

Finally I finished the case and Im starting to put everything inside,i wired my controller board to the 1mb memory pack as you can see here

580FCB1A-7CF7-4D5D-BFF8-033C642177B6.jpeg

Everything was working fine until I noticed something, the audio board was getting too hot for some reason,I don’t think that’s suppose to happen right? Anyway I was using 5v to power the amp so I switched to 3.3v and still the same thing,I already checked everything and I don’t see any problem with the wires.
This is the audio amp I’m using

So after trying to find the problem the right out speaker stopped working,I guess this board is dead now :(
Some time ago I bought two of this
93AE1A93-1ED4-4CA5-AACB-CBDDEC8A6D57.jpeg

but I can’t make them to work,I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, does anybody knows who to make it work on the 64 any help is welcome :)
For now that’s all i hope can fix this soon so I can move to the next project.
