Does anyone know how short the wires must be to do the rcp relocation?

You should be fine with anything between 5-7in. I wouldn't make them much longer than that though. You'll have problems with interference if you do.

RCP wiring is incredibly difficult. I wouldn't do it, period, unless you mess up a board bend and can't get another board easily. The board bend is a much easier and quicker technique.

I just realized that I read the question wrong. I thought you were talking about cartridge relocation.

For rcp, I agree with @Noah. The board bend is a much better route.

If you decide to do it though you are going to want the wires as short as possible. I would say max 4in but you should keep it even lower.

Well I have more than 50% of my case finish and I thought with the board bend it was gonna fit but it doesn't so now I really need to do the rcp relocation, I'm using 30 awg wire just for the relocation, do you think it's good enough or should I go for a thicker wire

If you relocate the 5v regulator, you can bend the board right up to the RCP pins if you wanted to.
