Hi, after installing new heatsink on my portable temperatures rise significantly from previous variant. I used gigabyte chipset radiator 35x35x10 mm and chand it to 40x40x20 mm aluminum heatsink and now system runs hotter. Tried to change it back: no difference. My heatsink screwed to custom back plate and thermal grease is GD900. Add photos down below. Any advice?

Changed back to gigabyte radiator and added super glue to screws because backplate wasn't holding screws and now they tight, as it was before, later check if it resolve my issue. Maybe I change fan to more powerful one, old one sucks almost 300 miliamps on 5 volt and very loud.

Okay, temperature is rising same as before to 49 degrees and then fan speeding up and system runs at 46 degrees but I got some kind of glitches on screen and after reboot they gone. Does someone measured temperature of their consoles? I use PS2temp for monitoring.

Can you upload more pictures do you have air vents ? All the hot air is just circulating inside of the case.

I’m back, got photo of internals and back cover, I draw to represent it theoretical airflow, maybe it’s now accurate.

This exact setup was cooling system to 41-43 degrees under load. Now I’m gonna check power draw, maybe it’s bigger now.

Back from power draw measuring: I don’t have audio amp and step down DC-DC module and power draw is less on some 100 - 200 mA.
Old: 7.5v stept up from 3p configuration:
7.524v 1.6A, 1.8A peak.
New 2s2p configuration straight trough:
7.857v 1.450A, 1.592A peak.
So, not too much of the change. I guess problem not in some kind of voltage short.

Edit: find out that some voltages lower, than before:

It was 1.30v and 1.10v respectively on those lines with full charged batteries and same for others.

Edit 2: find out that 1.25v and 3.5V are going inside one f the layers of motherboard right were screw holes are. Maybe short?

Checked resistance on all power lines using spare motherboard with 2008 main SoC and mine is 2007. No difference at all. 25 Ohms on 1.25v and 1.05v rails, 57Ohms on 1.8v, 55 Ohms on 2.5v, 97 Ohms on 3.5v. So no shorts or partial shorts on power lines.

15 minutes test without back cover and console laying on the screen showed 43 - 44 degrees, siting on the bottom - 44 - 45 degrees and at 60 degrees temperature is 45 - 46 degrees. I guess it’s not normal

I would suggest making small holes in both areas I circled, so the fan can pull air on the left side then blow it out the right side., that way it doesn’t stay inside of the portable.

I tried already using thin cardboard and done some designs and they not so efficient. Beside I don’t know what causing overheating, system runned cooler with same exact setup, problems started after swapping heatsinks. May I ask, which temperatures you got inside your portables? I using PS2temp, it giving me temperatures from internal temp diode of main SoC for measuring.

Installed motherboard back but this time didn’t tighten screws and got 40 - 41 without back cover and staying on bottom part. Later I will buy another fan since this not efficient enough and maybe add thin aluminum plate on the back. Which fan did you used for your portables? I trying to find blower with pwm and 5v supply voltage.
