This is so sexy, that clear case just get me going and remind me of all the clear and opaque cases from the childhood and teenage years. I've been out of the mossing scene for quite a while, lif and all, but my first foray back into it will be building one of these bad boys!

Thank you for all the hard work Wesk!

My board looks good so I'm gonna go ahead and order the shell. Quick question do you need any threads for the screws? Sorry if a stupid question it's my first time getting something printed I'm a bit of a noob!
Hi, I've ordered a 79003 model after searching ebay for a few weeks, but after ordering I saw a comment on macho nachos youtube video saying 79003 isn't compatible with the case as the eject button sticks out preventing it from fitting in the case. Has anyone used a 79003 model with any success and can confirm if this is true or not? Gonna hold off on getting a case from pcb way for now. Appreciate any feedback, thanks!

Is there a version of the ElectroAnalog HDMI model that does not include the "SONY" logo? Or has anybody made one?
Every 3D service I've tried are giving me a super hard time saying they will not print it due to trademarks. (and PCBway is quoting me suuuuper expensive right now for some reason)

Thank you!!

You can edit the STEP files in fusion, removing the SONY is very simple.

Hi everyone! New modder here. First of all, Wesk - thanks for the mod, awesome job!

I have few questions, especially to PAL version of 79k modders.

Run into Problems with 79004 PAL Model. First the First Soldering is not possible, because that black consistor ( 6:56 ) is not present. Second Problem is, the cut for the connection is not easy, because the two holes ( 7:25 ) are directly under the switch. Third, the soldering for the Reset functionality ( 8:11 ) looks different. There are no two black transistors. Only the left one and no many quarders left from this soldering. Only one. So where should im soldering?
PittStone, You didn’t give any feedback. Did you manage to finish the mod? If so, please show how you did it and where you soldered, that would be very helpful for me and other PAL users.

Everything works as it should, including the power reset switch PAL 79004. I've cutted one track under the purple cable.
I successfully trimmed the motherboard like you did (does it look any good?), and now just to be 100% sure where to solder to restore power - is your method good and effective? Does everything work, including the USB port? Additionally, if everything works for you, could you show exactly where you cut the traces on the board under the purple wire?

Photos would be best, because I’m not sure exactly where to use the scalpel to cut the traces near the button. I’m attaching photos.

Thanks everyone in advance for the help. You’re amazing, guys.

I couldn't find any similar requests, but is there any way to retain the infrared receiver or add a new one for continued remote use?

I made one! I combined the USB-C mod + HDMI mod together and I left the barrel jack in place too... always good to have options =)

Quick 10 second video of it printed with a shiny star effect!

Is there another way of wiring up the reset functionality on 79001 or does anyone have schematics on where the trace leads from the reset pad? I managed to lift the pad :(

I need to print the shell again since when it came out the printer it was slighlt un-square, also all the screws stripped.
I printed like this:

I could do with some tips on how to resin print this and also how do I make the screws work?

Thanks for the awesome models!!!!

Use lots of supports and get a thread tapper for the screws.

Im on my third build of these. I thought it would be pretty sweet to add the memcard doors back so I proceed to spend a late sat building brackets.

I got them installed and put the motherboard in to test and wow, I wasted a bunch of time only to find out the shell is thicker on Wesk's design so the doors sit back too far and when they swing open they hit the socket in the card slot. He he, prolly shoulda measured first. "DOH!"

Due to the more fragile nature of 3D printed parts compared to injection molded the walls needed to be beefed up.

Hello Wesk, I have a PS2 from the 9000 series, it doesn't have a case but it still works. The big problem with this PS2 is that it gets very hot. I believe it's because the power supply is internal. I know you won't I'm considering doing it but I'm going to ask anyway, it would be good if there was a PS2 mod focusing on ventilation and cooling of the card, especially in the 9000 series, as I said before they get hot a lot, this overheating can cause problems in the PS2 such as the board turning off, what I'm suggesting is a mod with better ventilation and that allows you to use an external USB cooler, These coolers that come with the PS2 are not very useful for me, especially because I live in a tropical country. I think the cooler can be soldered to the USB connection, right? And also that the case supports HDMI output, sorry for the bad English and the many lines written, thank you very much to those who read until the end.

Put another one together this time using JLCPCB. Decent results, I expect pcbway to be better but the results are more than acceptable for the price.
