Hey everyone, I'm new to the portablizing scene. After seeing what y'all accomplished I couldn't resist joining in. The only problem is I have pretty much no experience with electronics. That being said to the best of my ability, I'v looked through all the guides on here attempting to grasp and understanding of all this and I feel as though I am getting the hang of it, although I have not started building anything yet. For starters, I have an older 6 layer board wii that I want to use to make something like Jeff's wii micro, I don't mind if it is bigger but, there are a few things I want out of it, and I'm hoping it will prepare me to make a full fledged portable in the future.

I would like it to be pretty much the same as Jeffs Wii Micro, but I would like it to have bluetooth, with ir leds for a sensor bar on each side of the gamecube ports. I would also like it to have hdmi rather than the standard wii video out. Let me know what you all think.

any advice or tips are GREATLY appreciated since I really don't know what I'm doing, Im trying to put all the guides together in my mind but, I feel like some parts are just left out for mega noobies such as myself :)

Here comes the noob questions;

How exactly would I even go about making it have an hdmi out?

I would like to use the PowerMii Lite because I feel it would make much more sense than doing my own custom regs, but how do I exactly feed power to it from like a USB - C port which is what jeffs Micro wii uses.

Do you experienced portablizers believe I should try and figure things out in my head like this right now, or just buy what I know I need and go for it, then come here for help when I run into confusion? The second way may be more effective for learning because I feel like I'll always have questions and be confused just thinking about it rather than just going head first? Hopefully you get what I'm saying.

Thank you guys in advance for your responses as well as all that you have done here and built up together, its truly amazing and it inspires me.

For getting HDMI out there are a couple options. You could go for a converter such as the Sewell Wii to HDMI Converter which gives alright quality and is easy to wire, or you would be able to go for something like GC Video which requires a lot more effort and costs a decent amount more, but provides a better picture
For USB C you can get away with something like this as it just tells whatever is powering the unit to provide 5v.
I believe you should try getting some basic tools (soldering iron, multimeter, etc), and start working on it, asking questions as you go. That's how most people do it at least :P

Thank you for your help, This is what i'm thinking of getting to start;

22 Gauge wire -https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C5DBKW...olid=12QXZQBR8O10O&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

34 Gauge Copper Wire - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LV90GN...olid=12QXZQBR8O10O&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Multi-meter - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N9QW62...olid=12QXZQBR8O10O&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Soldering Iron - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XZ31W3...olid=12QXZQBR8O10O&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Dremel - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CYMDJS...olid=12QXZQBR8O10O&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Let me know what you think when you get a chance, this also might be good stuff to put on a form somewhere for other people to get started its the cheapest but best review stuff I could find. I believe it will be sufficient. Also any suggestions for solder? Do you only need one type?

Also do you believe this wii to hdmi converter would work since its less than half the price of the one you suggested? Still has good reviews, I don't believe there would be a difference.
