One reason I'm nervous to do my PS2 portable and one reason only.

If you just smell the console before buying it, you won't have that problem lol.

Wear gloves and do the basic disassembly in a dry empty bathtub. No worries.

If it smells like roaches, don't open it at all. Even if there are no live ones, nobody wants to build a portable out of a roachy motherboard. They poop all over it and its gross. Also there's no reason to potentially introduce roaches into your house over a $20 or less console

I'd have a can of RAID nearby as well if you're genuinely worried.

From an evolutionary angle roaches haven't changed for more than 300 million years - all the way back to the carboniferous period. They've survived about five mass extinction events which makes them almost as perfect as tardigrades from a species angle due to them having never changed.

Don't just snuff them out - that's not insult enough, keep a spider or something so you can drop them into the enclosure with the words "say hello to my little friend!"

Well, opened up a Wii. Something happened I never expected.

And well... I fucking fainted. There were dead roaches everywhere. I had to use a entire roll of toilet paper to pick them up and flush them. Thank god they weren't alive .
