I'm starting this topic to share my progress and improvements to the O-Wii,
the goal is to have a V2 that can be made quite easily by other people and I possibly sell a few copies.

It's been a long time that I haven't tried again to make my custom NDS button with GC+ 2.0 PCB work.
After a lot of trying, I gave up, but I was hoping that using 3ds slidder might work ?
So I ordered some, and a week ago I did a live on tiktok where I soldered the 3DS sliders to my PCB.
this is a reconstruction of events :

And to my surprise the slidders worked straight away, I then calibrated them and it worked really well !!!
After that I unsoldered the 3DS slidders and put the switch joysticks back in place ... and they worked really well, before he was totally unusable o.O

So I don't know where the problem came from, maybe a problem with the ADC or variable overflow, or it is a feature :rothink:
Anyway now it work !

My resolutions this year: stop using glue.
On my first version all tact switch are glued, for this second version I want everything to be removable or easily replaceable.
So I introduce you the "no glue" patch :

And the "clips" patch :

Almost all the bindings have been redesigned so that it goes perfectly and that it is easier to assemble.
You will have noticed that I added a support for the 3V battery, and the MX chip is no longer glued, now it is correctly fixed.

I modified all the internal layout, I will show you the differences soon.

A big improvement is the triggers, I have improved it to use as few parts as possible.
Never need for a 3mm metal rod, now a simple screw !
The bending of the plastic are pretty good !
and it is more slim now

All of my test print, (there is more now but I take this picture before making more ;) ) :

I spent a lot of time to have a clean case.
I sanded, putty, painted, repainted ...

Today I finished putting everything inside.
Everything seems to work.
This is the result of the inside, it is much cleaner than the V1, the majority of the components are much easier to dismantle (no glue).

You can see that we have a lot less wire on the top part thanks to the pcbs.

Another PCB which makes the thing much cleaner is this little PCB which contains the rgb led and the on button (sorry for the bad picture it is a screenshot, I have a lot of rushes but very few pictures :/ )

So for now everything seems to be working pretty well.

Except I have only one problem is that when launching Wii or VC games I get some kind of error message, I don't understand at all what it is.

I have taken a video of the installation of RVloader :
I don't see any error

I have tried a lot of things :
Delete all things on the SD card and copy all the files from the sd card of my O-Wii v1 on it.
Reinstall RVloader
Test with multiple games ...

So for now I'm stuck, I can't say that the console is finished.
EDIT :
Now It work, I have replaced my Kingston USB adapter with another and MAGIC, It work !

I plan to upload some nice picture when the console will work 100%

Near lots of cornfields
Looks great, man! I love how you designed parts to replace using glue. This is something I really need to implement as my last semi-completed portable was doused in hot glue...

Hello, guys !
I am very happy to share you the result of the O-Wii V2 !

First of all the differences between each 3D modelling :
(find the seven difference ahah ;) )
Diférence-O-WiiV1-2-1.png

Diférence-O-WiiV1-2-2.png

For this version I first corrected some dimensions for the installation of components.
but overall here is what I changed :

- More clean
++++ Less glue (only need for the Kingston USB to µSD adapter and a litle drop for the 3.5mm jack)
+++ A lot less wires (thanks to Custom GC+ 2.0 PCBs & RGB led + button ON PCB)
- More easy to build
++++ Clipped component or screwed for easy disasembly/assembly
- Optimized cable management
- improved component layout
- Better L/R/Z/Z2

Some VS :

The cable management :

I added UV solder mask to protect solder and lock wire in place :

And finally the sexy shoots :

I would maybe make a video on youtube, and I would maybe share the 3d files on cults for a few euros (need some litlle adjustment, because the battery clip break... too thin).

Thanks for the Help of all people.
Especially thank to :
@Gman for making the PMS and the U-Amp open source !
@Aurelio for making the GC + 2.0 open source, RVloader, and help mee to find the problem of the USB.

Today, I received the new circuit from 4layerstech :)
they arrived very quickly, only 7 days !

It's really cool to have put the kingston adapter with, and I really like the small keychain gift :D

For now I have put all the new circuit, now I need to print, test and adjust.

Thanks guys :D

And I forgot, I have made a laser cuted foam for the case, with black fabric underneath.
It works very great but need to be cleaned several times because the cutting process create some kind of sticky material.
In any case, it's so much cleaner than cutting by hand with a cutter !

I made some great upgrade ! Now it is time for V2.2 :)

First of all after some printing I quickly realized that the clips for the li-ion cell were not a good idea at all, if I print only a part of the case to test and adjust it does not break, but as soon as I print the complete case it breaks every time  (I hate 3d printing ...).

So I made a screw fixing, moreover it's easier (KISS rule ...):
Fusion360_FAvYjo2beL.png

Another big challenge was the idea of integrating leds for the sensor bar, very complicated as I made the edges of the screen to a minimum (because big edges are ugly ... kof kof switch).
Fusion360_2FBsMjaIsg.png

So to see if it could pass, I took sensor bar leds and I sanded them to their maximum.
With a little willpower, everything push through !
Here are the specs of theses led I measure :
Voltage : 1.12V
Current : 4.14 mA

I powered them with 1.8V and 100 Ohm resistor for each.
20211202_191803-1.jpg

I also use a new screen (a lot thinner), and the board is better since the quartz is small so need to change and the backlight coil are thin too :)
20220116_234625.jpg

Still on the PCBs, I used the one I had made for my not finished Micro Wii portable, with a small modification for that of the directional cross, with always the possibility of adding the U-Amp on it (but I prefer to buy it on 4Layers).

20211204_202722-1.jpg

And I just finish to assembly this new one :
20220118_000507.jpg

20220117_231941.jpg

You can see leds working !
I will test if everything works correctly, and I will take cleaner pictures.
