Plastic. If it was metal you would risk shorting something and destroying your portable... It's also lightest and cheapest.

Using ABS in a 3D printer is pretty solid for a case. @Gman I believe uses both types of filament. I prefer ABS as with my heated glass bed I don't have many issues with bed not being heated enough. ABS is also bit stronger when it comes to finished product it has a little more flex when completed so that it won't snap, where as PLA is a little more brittle in my experience, but everyone has there own personal favorite

I like ABS because of it's increased temperature tolerances over PLA... I don't want my portable or whatever melting in my hands because the fan isn't blowing hard enough ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
