Question L + R Pot on gamecube controller acting wonky

So I am finishing up a portable but I can't seem to get my L + R potentiometers to read correctly. I was checking my readings via GC Controller Test and when they were not being pressed they read at 9-15 (Ohms? not really sure what the programs measure in) and it is enough to register in games as a half press. When I apply the 3.3v line to the data line the reading goes to the max 225 and will slowly discharge from there.

I'm using squishy buttons (like the one in the SS tutorial) and have tried different buttons but no avail. I think it is something on my controller board but I can't seem to figure it out. Anyone perhaps know of a solution?

I think I may have solved it but I can't test until finals are done and over. I think I need a resistor on the L+R pot legs of the controller IC. Will test and report back when I can.

Are you doing the dual tact mod? In that case yes, you need a pulldown resistor on each one of the trigger lines (a 10k going to ground should be good)
