Hey all
I'm having a bit of an issue with my wii portable, It's fully working but had no bluetooth module in it so i couldn't sync a controller to it or get to the main wii menu.
I bought a wii bluetooth module off ebay and following the wiring guide i've wired it up correctly and triple checked everything, It has 3.3v going to pad 6, 7 and 13 on the module, It has ground going to pad 8 and i've even wired a tactile button up to 3.3v and pad 12.
If i enable bluetooth on Mario Kart Wii and launch it from RVLoader it loads up np but if i try to goto the wii menu from RVLoader i get this error:

Could someone please help me figure out how to fix this thank you.

Edit:
This is the bluetooth module i bought:

And the wii motherboard region is Japan, I'm UK.

Your mainboard apparently isnt from japan, but from Korea, which is why it contains the korean key.

Use this to uninstall it:
(Alternative link) https://wiidatabase.de/downloads/hacks/koreankii/

It should work fine afterwards, though be aware that this modifies your nand so you shouldnt power your wii off while this tool is running or it might brick
thanks for the reply, i thought that might be the situation but i was afraid of bricking the system, i did a nand backup and although i wasn't sure how i'd restore it i decided to give the app a try and remove the korean key and now i see this, is that a good sign?

from that screen will i be able to pair a wiimote upto it if i buy one because i sadly got rid of all my stuff.
also if you know an easy way i can convert it to english i'd really appreciate it thank you.

Its kind of complicated so I cant really explain it right now, I will write sth when I get back from work. Be warned though that it can very well go wrong and brick your wii.

BE WARNED! I DO NOT GUARANTEE THIS WILL WORK AND WONT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY IF IT BRICKS YOUR WII!!!!

Im sending you a pm because the stuff you need to region change is copyrighted by nintendo afaik so I cant really post it on the main forum.

NOTE: I do not know whether or not this will work on a trimmed wii, as we will basically be undoing all the patches that rvloader has applied to make the wii be able to boot without wifi and bt. Make sure that you have a nandbackup ready in case shit hits the fan. Before following this guide, make absolutely sure that you can launch the rvloader installer from the hbc. I do not think your wii will boot again before reinstalling rvloader.

After everything is finished, launch the rvloader installer IMMEDIATELY from the hbc and reinstall it. DO NOT REBOOT!!!!

You should be finished now.

EDIT: Also yes, the wii menu showing up shows that it worked.

I have attached a zip file with the required files. Unpack these and copy all of them to your sd card/usb drive. Merge/replace any conflicts.

In the zip, there is a file called "ModMii_Region_Change_Guide". Open that file, and start at step 3.

You now want to follow this guide until step 5, which you have already completed because you removed the korean key.

After everything is finished, launch the rvloader installer IMMEDIATELY from the hbc and reinstall it. DO NOT REBOOT!!!!

You should be finished now.

thank you for all the info, i'll pickup a wiimote and see if i can pair it

i've ordered a wiimote and nunchuk, hopefully when i press the sync button on both it works :D
as for your guide, currently i only have usb wired up and not the wii's sd card slot so i may have to look at adding that back on as some of the apps don't let you do it from usb

They *should* be able to run from usb, you just have to configure the hbc to launch usb homebrews and set the file Location to usb in yawm modmii edition

launching the apps is fine, it's whether the app supports loading/reading the files from usb, i've already ran into ones that require the wii sd card slot
