Good 7" IPS screen for a Wii project?

Has anyone recently gotten a 7" IPS screen and driver board? I am looking for one to use in a Wii project. I bought a monitor off Amazon that claimed to be IPS with the intention of removing it from the case. But I returned it because the colors were super washed out and the viewing angle was pretty bad. I have been browsing ebay and am not super trusting of different listings. SO, if anyone has gotten/used a good 7" screen and driver board combo, I'd love to have a link to it... I want to use it for a Wii project, so if the driver board had VGA or AV, that would be great.

Is this one you've specifically used? How are viewing angles and color on it?
I don't really need touchscreen, does it matter that its included?
It looks like they have a driver board that I'd have to get separately from the screen. Did you use that board?
I'm still just trying to figure stuff out, so sorry for the aggressive question-asking...

That's not IPS and the boards you linked are not for the video input he's asking for, which is AV/VGA. It has been recommended in the forums to go with this screen. Expensive but that's what you get if you want a quality product.

Check out this worklog where it's used:

Scroll half way down the page and you will see it in action.

EDIT: The screen is currently sold out, I'd keep an eye on it or see if another vendor has it

I probably should have mentioned it, but the party box is what I'm trying to make. I have checked in on that screen every once in a while over the last few months and it's always been out of stock when I checked, which is what spurred me to post.

The screen I ordered and returned is a *different* 7" screen from sunfounder (through amazon) that was labled as "IPS" but wasn't what I was hoping for.

I could settle for a TFT screen as long as it is 7", has good color, and has an available board that can do VGA/AV.

I don't know much about screen/board combos, but I don't have the know-how to buy them separately and confidently check that they'd be compatible.

Thanks for the links!

I've never used a 7" screen for anything, so I can't recommend anything off personal experience but I'm sure you're aware there are many options out there.
I kind of assume that will be the case for most of the users on here since the 4layertech 5" screen is so popular and most people are trying to go smaller with their portables . Hopefully I won't have to take too many chances or settle on quality too much.

I use the 4.3" version and it looks nice. The touchscreen doesn't affect the display but if you have it, it restricts which drivers you can use. There is a version that doesn't have a touchscreen. I do use that driver board and I don't mind aggressive question asking. I am also pretty new here so I would take others advice over mine.

So, I ordered 3 different screens and here are my thoughts on each and some pictures of the one I kept.

  1. RETURNED: Amazon.com: SunFounder 7 Inch TFT Monitor for Raspberry Pi, HDMI - 1024x600 HD LCD Screen Display AV VGA Input Built in Speaker for Raspberry Pi 400 4B 3 Model B+ 3B 2B B+ A+ Computer PC DVR Car : Electronics
    1. This one was not very god at all. When it arrived and I booted it up, it had horrible viewing angles and super washed-out color. It was probably only worth $30. I returned it. When I bought it, "IPS" was in the listing title, which is what made me think to give this one a shot.
  2. RETURNED: Amazon.com: APROTII RasPi Touchscreen Monitor, 1024X600 7" IPS RasPi Screen with Case, Capacitive Touch Screen Display USB/HDMI for PC Phones RasPi 4B 3B+ 3B 3A+ 2B B+ (with Stand) : Electronics
    1. This one had an AMAZING screen. I tested it with my computer (HDMI) and played minecraft on it for a while, and all the colors were great. However, the listing showed a VGA port on the side, and when it arrived, the VGA port was actually a Mini-HDMI port. I didn't want to have to deal with converting Wii output to HDMI, so I returned this one too.
  3. The Keeper: Amazon.com: Eyoyo 7 inch Monitor, 1024x600 Small IPS HDMI Monitor, HDMI VGA AV Monitor with Remote Control & Speaker, Portable Display for Gaming Raspi PC DVD Car : Electronics
    1. This one has great viewing angles. It worked with my computer through VGA and I played some Double Dash on it thought AV. I am going to keep this one.
Here are the pictures of the one I'm going to keep:
