I connected the MC audio wire to the u-amp but I noticed the audio sounded a bit crunchy. On the 4layer website it says to twist MC with ground and it can help but it didn't really do much. Any tips that can help with glitchy audio?

Also when I plug in my headphones it's real glitchy about half way plugged in and then doesn't work fully plugged

I can't take pictures now cause I'm not home but I would appreciate any help

Some photos will be helpful to assist diagnosing your issue.

Alright here are some pictures. To be more specific the audio doesn't work at all for retro game emulators like gameboy, but it sounds okayish for other things. the ground is twisted up the majority of the wire so I don't think that's the issue. Maybe I forgot a wire somewhere

Well, for starters I'd organise them wires a bit to keep the groups somewhat cohesive. It's impossible to track what goes where with all that spaghet

Also why do you have two wires going into the SDW/SCW vias? You can daisy chain those lines from the PMS pads to whatever else uses them, it's much neater that way

I'm with Stitches. Really hard to tell what's going on with the spaghetti and the low res photos.

One thing I do see though is it looks like you soldered a jumper from headphone sense to headphone sense? That's not needed and may be causing noise on the line.

Also what are the 2 other connections above the headphone sense?

EDIT: Ah those are volume up and down

It says to do so on the 4layer tech RVL-AMP page. Should I disconnect em?

I believe the intention is to show you that you can solder the headphone sense to either side, and that they're connected. Not to add a jumper.

@Stitches jump in and correct me if I am wrong.

Your headphone sense wire only needs to be connected to one of those two vias. Then from headphone sense of the audio amplifier board to the switch line on the headphone jack.

Ahh ok that makes sense. I'll get rid of the jumper and see if that helps

Thanks a ton! headphones work flawlessly now. still having glitchy audio from speakers though. Would that mean that there is something up with the speakers somehow? just because the headphone audio is fine.

Good, clean audio through the headphones means the connection from MC to audio board is likely good.

Might want to re-do the solder joints for the L/R +/- on amplifier, and speakers next to rule out a cold solder joint causing high resistance.

I redid the wiring but it didn't help much. Here are some pictures.
I also thought I would mention that the headphone right audio I just a little bit louder than left. Just a note

I'm not super familiar with the louii. Are those speakers pressure fit? As in when they make contact with the board they make their connection?

Also, wasn't your portable purple earlier?

This is a Louii and yeah they make contact with the board. Maybe I should try hand soldering on to the speaker?

I didn't realize the filament I was using changes color when it heats up so that was fun

Yeah I had to do that when I built my ashida. My enclosure was not 100% accurate dimensionally so the speakers would crackle if I squeezed the enclosure in any way. So I soldered wires between the pads on the board and the prongs on the speakers.

Easy fix

Alright, now all of the audio from Wii games is perfect. For whatever reason some homebrew software and gc games have really glitched audio though. Would this be a problem with RVLoader?

Awesome, glad your audio is working now!

What thumb drive are you using?

This could be a symptom of usb incompatibility with RVLoader. I had to get 2 or 3 different drives until I found one that worked flawlessly with my Ashida.

You can get more information from the RVLoader FAQ page.

Alright, thanks for all the help! That seems strange to me as there wasn't any audio issues on my untrimmed wii but I'll see what I can do about it. If it's not a bother, are there any drives that you recommend?

Did you test the same gamecube games and vc content before and after trimming?

There are also some GameCube/Wii games/VC games that RVLoader simply doesn't like and won't work properly.

If they're more of a niche game, then it's likely incompatible until it's patched. For example bomberman generation and punch-out don't work.

I can't fully recommend my USB drive yet. I'm still testing it. Randomly hangs up on the RVLoader menu from time to time. Yet has absolutely no issues with games.
