Yes, millennium is intentionally spelled wrong, its a stylistic choice in logos & I hate that it has two Ns, don't @ me! :^)
Hey everyone! Maybe we'll finish this one this time!
A lot of you should already know about this build if you've been participating in the Discord server, but off and on for probably the last year or so, I've been working on a remix & update to @Gman's famous build, the G-Boy Rev 3. I had the build mostly complete right around MGC time last year (this was when I was still calling it the Y2K Remix), however I never got it to a state where I felt comfortable releasing the files, and the build had some issues that I wasn't able to solve without a full rebuild. I decided while I was planning to rebuild everything, that I would go ahead and clean up the CAD, get everything prepped for an eventual release, and rebrand!
I went with the "Millenium Edition" subtitle because:
As I already eluded to, this build is an update of the G-Boy to bring it up to our current standards, using modern boards from 4Layer Technologies, some nice style & quality of life improvements, while still retaining the look and feel of the G-Boy Rev 3 that we all know and love! Planned features are as follows:
The case has been printed by @Redherring32 in PETG-CF. The ABXY and D-Pad are 3rd party DS Lite buttons that have had their legends sanded off, and the rest of the buttons & triggers will be FDM printed. All 3D CAD files will be released in both STL and STEP format, including models for all the PCBs and other parts that go in the build, so you can make changes as you like! Thanks to Gunnar for providing the original G-Boy Rev 3 STEP and allowing me to release the main shell as a STEP!
The rest of this worklog will be dedicated to documenting the build process, which is to be done at MGC this year! Hopefully we finish it in time, since we'll also be building @cy's Cyxty Four as our main build this year. Stay tuned for more!

I went with the "Millenium Edition" subtitle because:
- It sounds badass.
- It contains several references, including, but not limited to: my username, the Millennium Bug itself, Yu-Gi-Oh (the Millennium Items), and Windows Millennium Edition!
- I think it fits with the concept of this project, which is an effort to refresh the G-Boy design for the new era of portablizing.
As I already eluded to, this build is an update of the G-Boy to bring it up to our current standards, using modern boards from 4Layer Technologies, some nice style & quality of life improvements, while still retaining the look and feel of the G-Boy Rev 3 that we all know and love! Planned features are as follows:
- OMGWTF trim
- 3.5in 640x480p IPS display
- Digital video to the internal display powered by @YveltalGriffin's Fujiflex (Compatible with RVL-DD as well)
- 2x 3500mAh 18650 batteries for 2-3hrs of battery life
- WiFi & Bluetooth capabilities - I don't have any WifiFlexes on hand at the moment, so this might be something I install after the fact, or see about pulling off a manual WiFi relocation at MGC
- Updated to support the full 4Layer Tech suite of modular boards (PMS-2, PD-3, GC+ 2.0, U-AMP 2)
- Same physical dimensions as the G-Boy Rev 3, including thickness, so all original stands & accessories designed for the original G-Boy will work with Millenium Edition!
- Custom screen lens modeled after the now extinct ExperimentalPi lens, as was featured in @Dustin Fisher and @SimplyStevii's remixes - The lens is nearly the same as the ExperimentalPi lens, but features a printed G-Boy logo on the top left corner. You can purchase this through LCSC's Acrylic Front Panel Service for ~$7.50 for 5 lenses, or through your glass lens service of choice. I went with acrylic here since I can't afford custom glass at the required MOQs.
- Custom PCBs to hold GC+, U-AMP, and all the button tact switches & other components - These were modeled after Dustin's boards he made for his remix, dubbed the "Rev4U" by the community.
- Dual Z buttons, as well as Alps SKRRAAE010 tact switches for ABXY + D-Pad - No membranes required, either use original DS Lite buttons with a 3D printed insert plate, or have custom buttons casted/resin printed!
- Dual K-Silver Hall Effect joysticks - No drifting allowed in this build!
