Question Dreamcast VRAM Upgrade?

So I found this post:

And it got me to thinking, how feasible would it be to simply get ahold of a few of the chips from the Atomiswave (I already found some) and replace the ones on the Dreamcast with them?

One need only look at the two motherboards to see how similar they are, and I know that a procedure like the one I'm describing can be done to the original Xbox (or should I say the Dreamcast 2?)

Unless the DC games are developed to use the additional RAM, it would be useless, even if feasible. Besides, doubling the RAM requires an additional address line, which I am not sure is available on the DC.

What I'd be interested in is the possibility of replacing multiple ram or vram chips with a single chip of the combined capacity and terminating it early. If possible, this could open the door to a plethora of trimming options.
