If we're talking about just the tools and not the boards / other parts for the portable itself, here's a list of most stuff you'll need.

• Cutting Wheels: $11
• Sandpaper: $12
• Soldering Iron (Pinecil v2): $26
• Solder (Kester 63/37): $40
• Flux (ChipQuick SMD291): $12
• Solder sucker / wick: $7 (these ones are cheap but if you use them right, they will work well)
• Better solder wick (Chemtronics): $7
• Soldering iron sponge (Hakko 559B-02): $11
• Fume extractor (optional but highly recommended): $36
• Precision screwdriver kit: $15
• X-acto Knife: $7
• 22awg stranded wire: $17
• 34awg magnet wire: $16
• Good tweezers (Excelta 00-SA-SE): $9
• Blue silicone work mat: $20
• Isopropyl alcohol (at least 91%): $4

I'm probably forgetting some stuff, but that'll get you started. Grand total for all that stuff comes out to $273 before taxes / shipping / variation in what you end up getting, so expect to be spending around $300 on tools and whatnot. That might seems like a high upfront cost, but these things will all last you a *very* long time.
