Hi, looking to get into Wii portables and trimming!
What's the best wii portable for beginners?

The Ashida! I recently built one following the guide from Dubesinhower on YouTube and checking BitBuilt for any other info about it. It is really easy (relative to other things) and the trim is not too aggressive. I also really like the form factor.

Is there a kit for the Ashida?

No, but there is a bill of materials. It is the next best thing. If you find the original Ashida post by Wesk on bitbuilt, the parts list will be linked there. You will also need an ashida shell, GameCube controller buttons plus an extra z button, and different types of wire.
