Sorry, I don´t understand the suggestion, can you try to explain it better please?
Sure! Sorry that I was unclear.

The GameCube lid switch will only be triggered when the lid is closed, meaning a NX is not docked in the unit.

Instead of having 2 HDMI ports, you could have 1 port and switch between the NX dock output and Wii output depending on the state of the lid switch.

You could also do the same thing with the controller ports, if you wanted to add an NX GC controller adapter.

It adds complexity, but I think it would be neat.

Yes I am working on something similar for the GC controller adapter, but the HDMI ports will be something not possible as of today for this project, but I will consider it for future builds.

Hello team, we will be finishing this project soon!

We finished making the paintjob for the case and the next step is just to finish the design of the back panel, and put everything together.

I have also installed the Nintendo Switch holder with the ribbon cable, and made the spring stronger so it can open the lid:

Hello my people, here I am posting the last updates of this amazing project.

I finished the design of the backplate and video ports for the back of the console, this was an amazing design that I printed in 2 parts and glued together:

(That plate was used for fitting tests)

Here is the final design glued together and how it looks installed:

Printing quality is not the best but it looks amazing!

While I was using the hot glue gun, I also put together the USB memcard:

The front panel electronics is also complete, I had to add the diode to the 3.3v line of the ESP32 for blueretro as it was interfering with the GC Controller USB adapter for the switch side of the project, not much to see there just an usb wire and the data and voltage cables that goes to the front panel. I also changed the switch to isolate the ground instead of the voltage of the front panel.

I am putting everything together now and will start making the video once it is finished.

Edit:

Forgot to add the new and updated STL files for the upgraded HDMI Bracket, the USB C port holder, and also the Gamecube AV Cover.

Hello one last time! This is the last post for this amazing project we have been working on!

The project is officially complete!

Here are some pictures of the final assembly process:

The first step is to connect the flex and USB cables to the switch dock board and screw it in place:

Next we place the wii board and components and set them to their possition:

The original fan is only be used to hold the power on button:

Backplate also is installed:

And everything fits nicely:

Next we have to screw the Switch USB C connector into the lid:

I had to make some manouvers to screw it because of the lengh of the wire:

And after that everything was ready for the video!

The promised features were accomplished on this project:

Features for the Wii side:

  • HDMI and digital audio using the VGA signal. Check
  • Bluetooth controllers using Blueretro with an ESP32. Check
  • SD card inside the original GC memory card. (Its an USB drive) Check
  • The ability to use the Nintendo Switch charger on its 15v to power on the unit. Check

Features for the Switch side:

  • The ability to use all 4 gamecube controller ports. Check
  • Orange status led when the NX Switch is powered on. Check
  • Lid mechanism to hide the NX Switch port and slot when it is not inside the GC case, to make it look as an original GC. Check
  • Orange shell with custom paint. Check
