Worklog Ashida build, 0 electronics knowledge, help much appreciated

What symptoms is it showing? Is it just not posting to the portable screen? It could be a multitude of issues rather than the whole board being dead.

Worklog Ashida build, 0 electronics knowledge, help much appreciated

Best way to determine if your PMS is still working would be to check that your battery voltage is full (3.6/3.7v when charged) and that each of the power rails is outputting the correct power. Measure each voltage rail 1v, 1.15v, 1.8v(PMS2 only), 3.3v, 5.0v and make sure that they are within at...

Discussion Ashida & G-Boy injection moulded shell expression of interest

If you can do clear colors then I'd love an atomic purple ashida and gboy!

Oh my goodness using a transparent cd case as the shell to house the actual cd drive is freaking brilliant. Such an aesthetic way to show off the spinning disc. The album is Destroyer by KISS

Oh wow it's beautiful! I really love those buttons. They look like little gummies. VGA would probably be plenty on a screen that size. If you went VGA, then you could also add an electron Shepard VGA to HDMI converter board so you can do video out to a TV. Cant wait to see more progress!

    Question Best first portable?

If you're brand new to electronics projects I wouldn't necessarily recommend doing a louii or ashida. They're "beginner friendly" in the sense that they are the more simple Wii portables to build since they're thoroughly documented to the point where you can build one start to finish without...

Take your multimeter and find out which wire is the center pin of the RCA connector and which wire is the outside of the RCA end. The outside of the RCA is ground and the center pin should be the AV connection.

Cut the black 3.5mm jack off. Then separate the white and red RCA jack. Remove the jacket for the cable and you'll have braided shielding and a wire. Twist the braided shielding together, that gets soldered to ground. Take the wire and solder to pin 3 of AV out.

Those HDMI converters require power to enable the conversion. You only have composite and ground hooked up. Pins 4 and 10 on the AV connector are power. With your current set up, that HDMI convertor will only cause you issues. Best route is to wire an AV cable to pin 3 and ground and plug into...

    Random setting changes

Yeah I'd definitely swap out that data line pair for a tightly twisted magnet wire pairs. You might also see some freezes or hang ups in the SW based on what USB drive you're using. There's a list in the RVLoader FAQ page of supported drives.

Worklog Attempting to put a Wii in a Wii U Gamepad

Did you test the voltages on the PMS board or the Wii itself? I would resolder your u10 wire. Based on your previous photo it's definitely in the hole of the via, but doesn't look like it's actually soldered to the via itself. Make sure to remove a bit of the solder mask so the via is nice...

    Random setting changes

It's gonna be hard for any of us to help troubleshoot with you if you don't include some photos of your wiring, solder joints, boards, batteries, etc. Lots of SW issues can be caused by faulty data +/- wiring, pairs not twisted correctly, the wrong USB drive, cold solder joints, etc. Lots of...

Worklog Attempting to put a Wii in a Wii U Gamepad

Keep in mind that when taking measurements on your 3.3v line with the PMS and battery connected it will show below 10ohms. Mine showed 4ohms when measured, but it's not a short.

Worklog Attempting to put a Wii in a Wii U Gamepad

There's several things that could prevent the board from booting. You stated that you got zero readings when checking the 3.3v rail against ground? Have you tried measuring that again to rule out a short? Did you place tape over the CPU/GPU before cutting the board? I'm also seeing a lot of...

    Completed The Chicken Nugget Boy!

The transplant was a success! After a few weeks of playing games on this. Gameboy advance emulation was decent, but the occasional hang ups or crashes was becoming increasingly annoying. I managed to find a raspberry pi zero 2w on eBay, brand new, for 45$. Much better than what they're...

    Question Problem connecting gamecube controller

It's very possible the port itself could be damaged. You could try wiring up a second one at this point. Have you measured voltage on RA1 and the GameCube port to ensure you have the full 3.3v? If you have < 3.15v or less than 5 percent of the full voltage it could easily cause problems with...
