Here we go,
After lurking for a while, I finally made and account and decided that letting my 64 that I bought for a Portable gather dust in a cupboard for over two years wasn’t good enough, so I’ve finally decided to pull the trigger and build my first portable.

I’m very new when it comes to Portables, only done smaller projects, so if my wiring an thought process isn’t exactly up to date or cutting edge, sorry.

Planned Specs:
  • 4:3 3.5” TFT LCD
  • 2 BP-915s (roughly 2.5 - 3 hours)
  • Lightly trimmed motherboard
  • Polycase AG 85
  • Modern Joystick

New specs down below a bit
Thanks for stopping by, and updates will be coming somewhat soon

StankyDanky64. lol

6 batteries is gonna be a heavy beast of a portable. In my experiece 4 is just heavy enough... are you thinking 18650 or something else?

Glad there is another 64 project in progress right now. Are you going to follow the Advanced 64 trim Gman developed? Highly recommended. Its not too difficult and has been really reliable. You will probably want a PIF relocation board and 64 amp (modified uamp)... unless you're planning to keep the analog audio or not cut the advance trim.

Pif board files: https://bitbuilt.net/downloads/PIF_Breakout.zip

64amp: https://github.com/Gmanmodz/64AMP

You probably already found this but the guidehub is also suuuuper helpful for n64p: https://bitbuilt.net/forums/index.php?forums/nintendo-64.99/

Oh yea, ShockSlayer just released the board scans which could be helpful for troubleshooting or checking your work: https://bitbuilt.net/forums/index.php?threads/n64-rev-9-1-compendium.4762/

Good luck buddy! Let me know if you have any questions about the trim and wiring part of the process... I went deep into it when i did mine.

CHEERS!

I know it's probably really heavy and chunky but as it's my first real system I'm not all top concerned about size or weight, but if its too painful on my hands I'll use LiPo Batteries

I'm using a Pal system so not sure if they have the same trimming capabilities

@Wesk did some PAL trimming on the n64. Maybe check with him about that... you could always try to source an NTSC Nintendo 64. Do you have a huge library of PAL cartridges?

I now have time to do stupid things like spending all my time chopping up consoles.

New (planned) specs:
- 3.5” LCD Display
- Handmade Acrylic Case
- Jumper Pack
- 2 Canon ZR-70MC Batteries
- A little bit of hot glue to piss of the mods ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
