So it turns out, you can actually Portablize consoles that aren’t even made by Nintendo! Who knew? Skeptical? We were too, but do we have quite the bit of proof for you today in Fibbef’s Original Playstation Portable, the PSYu/ユ.
Fibbef has done {some} great {mods} before {in} the {past}, and of course there is no shortage of such here with this one. Some Specifications of note for the PSYu are:
*Case built from a modified Wii U protective case
*PSone motherboard (yep, that’s the slim)
*Support for 2 memory cards, one internal and one external
*Widescreen 16:9 lcd, but displaying Standard 4:3 in a hole cut for a 4:3 screen which covers up the sides
*disk drive w/ magnetic disk cover (a hat tip to you sir for constructing a portable that uses the actual games!)
*4400 mAh 7.4V batteries, a decent amount
*A cool name. Wait a minute!!! Is it “PSYu” because “yu” in katakana is written “ユ” which looks kind of like a “1” (as in, “PS1”), or because it is shaped like a Wii-U (“yu”) gamepad? Or Both??? Yep, cool name either way.
We haven’t seen a PSone portable in a long time, and maybe never one that has come out quite this good. Thanks for an awesome addition to the site’s “finished projects list”, fibbef. We’re definitely expecting more cool stuff from you in the future!
